My name is Caitlin McGinn and I am an American expatriate living in Germany. My husband, Ryan, and I have been here for nearly three years, and before Germany we lived in Curaçao (in the Caribbean) for over two years. Ryan and I love traveling and living abroad. We realize we are lucky to do this and we cherish every moment, even the hard and lonely ones. We live in a lovely town above a vineyard and have a darling kitty, Jasper, Jaspy or “touch-da-nose” for short. If you saw his cute protuberant pink nose you’d get that last one!
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in English from California State University, Northridge, and in January I am pursuing a TEFL certificate in Prague. I would like to help people learn English, and it is a skill I should be able to use anywhere. I have just started this blog as a way to practice writing, but also to act as a treasure house for my experiences and my thoughts about them. I also do editing/proofreading work, which I really enjoy. I often work with people whose first language is not English, but they are writing in English. It is rewarding to help people formulate their thoughts and ideas in correct English.
Ryan and I have joined a Unitarian Universalist congregation and it has enriched our experience here in Germany. It has provided us with a community of like-minded people and connected us to some really good friends. I am thankful to have them in my life and I hope that no matter where we go we can always find a fellowship, or the means to create one ourselves.
